Mission Impossible Baby Blankets

One of our newborns with a blanket.

Last rainy season, we noticed that the littlies were cold. Nanna (Terrence's mum) had taught me a few things about wool, spinning, looms, 'sheep'? 😄, etc. - so I hatched a cunning plan...

After recruiting and convincing my sisters to be 'crafty', we embarked on a new venture: "Mission Impossible Baby Blankets". We were actually, surprisingly, really good at it - and, after discovering crocheting is faster than knitting, production went into full swing.

Nanna came through with a bag of wool and a lovely lady on Trade Me sent us some crochet needles. We bought some more wool and went through the good natured ribbing from Terrence: something to do with us all looking like a pack of oldies in a Rest Home sitting around knitting at night.

Viola!! Almost every new born baby now gets a warmly crocheted blanket, YAY! It has caught on and we now have many young enthusiastic blanky knitters! (Learners only at this stage).

We were humbly reminded of the importance of the blanky's, when the other day a blanky got to a baby three weeks late and the baby had a bad cold and cough (naughty Miriam got completely sidetracked).

Please pray for more lovely wool and crochet needles. We can't get any wool here, just acrylic, and no bigger crochet needles than size 3 which is 3.0mm. The bigger crochet needles knit faster and we can make heavier and warmer blankets for the babies.

Please think of little warm pinky's (the babies) and pray for Gods protection over them.
