As soon as you rang we set the ball rolling. Paul (our driver in Kenya) got in touch with a nice lady we had been in contact with who has a good boarding school not too far away in a town 40 minutes away from their home. She was keen to see them and arranged for an interview the following day. We were so nervous on interview day. We hoped they would pass the entrance exam and be accepted. They passed the class entry exams yeah! They are very clever and did so well. The headmistress is a lovely lady who understands the situation the boys have been through. She has promised to take care of them and to teach them, not only in class but about hygiene, social etiquette etc. as they have been living like street kids.
Paul who had the responsibility to take care of everything did so very well and had the very excited boys in school in less than a week. Knowing Kenya and how doing anything is like pushing rocks uphill, we were amazed at how well he did. He had their hair cut, bought soap, supervised their bath and got them in uniform looking great. He says they were so excited and happy. He crashed with a mighty headache but is recovering well. He said to tell the sponsors and Terrence that what they are doing is very touching and moving. He said, "Miriam, these people live like animals," the boys can have beds, blankets, showers and food, and have an education."
He is a man who is getting to know Christ through our actions. This is a scenario where ‘let your actions be a witness of Christ’ is really working. My Dad always used to say that every action is like a ripple and it touches everyone along the way. We really thank God for him.
Giving is a blessing, not just to those receiving but to the giver and those involved in the miracle.
We see God as we share in the miracle and our faith gets built up. It's a shame that many organisations have complicated such a pure act and made it so the needy miss out while the giver gives openly, innocently and willingly. It is so good to be able to unite a real need with a willing happy giver when the sole beneficiary is the receiver. So you know when you give it is making a real difference in a worthy life. God bless you so much.
